Mörby Castle Ruins
According to legend, the Viking chieftain Myre had his stronghold near the present ruin. Most of what we can see of the castle today was built in the 1560s. After that, remodeling and additions took place. In the wake of bad business, the castle was mortgaged in the 1670s by the then owner Gustaf Gabrielsson Oxenstierna and the castle began to fall into disrepair.
In 1728, the architect Hårleman examined Mörby and suggested that the castle should be left to decay and become a beautiful ruin, as it was not worth repairing. The road to the ruin goes via Fasterna church.
